"Au Naturel" Everyday Make-up Routine

Looking back on my younger years, I wore a lot of make-up to cover up my imperfections and give myself "confidence", however I was just as insecure about my make-up as I was about my skin. Recently, I have become a huge advocate of the "no make-up" look, partly through laziness and partly because I have learned that make-up should be used only to enhance your natural beauty rather than to paint on an entirely different mask. I am very into the "French chic" look, and women in France always look effortlessly and naturally perfect. I am going to take you through the products I use on a daily basis to create a quick, easy and natural look.

Firstly, I hardly ever wear foundation (unless I am going somewhere really special), I can usually get by with a dab of concealer underneath my eyes and on any blemishes I may have. It's important to remember that you don't have to completely mask everything, simply evening your skin tone out is enough as it is normal to have a few imperfections! This concealer is by far my favourite, it lasts all day and has really good coverage so you don't have to layer it up.

Next, I dust a small amount of powder over my face, to create a matte finish. I am quite pale so I opt for translucent powder rather than coloured to escape looking orange! I make sure not to apply too much, so my skin still glows and doesn't look cakey. This brush is slightly pricey but I really recommend investing in a good quality brush as it definitely reflects on your make-up!

I think I have found an absolute gem when it comes to these eyeshadows! They are extremely inexpensive and I find myself using them everyday due to the fantastic pigmentation, colour and slight big of shine! These are the only eyeshadows I use on a daily basis and at £1.99, you can't go wrong!

I never stick to one mascara, there are so many different options that I find myself buying a different one every time to try it out! I am currently using this one, and it is serving me very well; I love how it doesn't clump while still giving you lots of volume! Any mascara will do, but just make sure you don't apply too many layers, less is more!

And that's it! That is the main base to my everyday natural make-up look. After this, I usually pick whether to accentuate my eyes or my lips (not both) or leave my face as is.

If I am emphasising my eyes, I use either a kohl or liquid liner to create a very small winged effect on my top lash line. I have recently been loving this kohl eyeliner in brown rather than black; it blends into my face better and looks less harsh.

When it comes to defining my lips, there is only one lipstick for me! I absolutely adore the Kate Moss Rimmel lipsticks, my favourite is the classic red 01 but I also have 03 (nude) and in the matte formula, 107 (pink). These lipsticks are amazing - so bold in colour but still very hydrating.

The main thing to remember when applying your make-up is that less is more! Make sure you are in a well-lit room, preferably with daylight, as your face will look different as soon as you step outside. Your skin will thank you if you let it breathe, meaning it will then look even better naturally, so you'll need less make-up! To get into this cycle, take the leap and let your natural beauty shine through rather than covering it up.
