2014 - A Year of Change

Since it is still technically the first week of January, I am allowing myself to do a reflective post on the past year. For me, 2014 was a year of huge change, both physically and mentally. Although some changes may have been difficult to come to terms with, I have tried to embrace every one of them as I know they will all make me stronger as a person and eventually lead to who I want to be. I have written about just a few of the major changes I went through in 2014 below, and I hope to look back on these next year and see where I have gone from there and changed further.

  • Losing friends - During 2014 I drifted away from some of my closest friends. We ended things on bad terms, which I regret as it is difficult to look back on some of our good memories together without them being tainted. Although I was upset about it at the time, I no longer have any hard feelings towards them and would like to wish them all the best in their futures (which I would do if we were on speaking terms, but since we're not I'll just do it mentally.)
  • Gaining friends - Since starting college in September 2014, I have met many new people, some of whom I instantly clicked with. It was very refreshing to have a fresh start and I feel as if I finally belong somewhere (shoutout to Emily, Ffion, Jade, John, Alex, etc.). I look forward to creating new memories with my new friends.
  • Becoming happier - The first few months of 2014 were a very rough time for me, full of negative thoughts and emotions. However, as the year went on I found myself becoming happier, leading to the positive mindset I have today. The summer of 2014 was a huge contributor to this as I had a fantastic time attending festivals, parties and camping with my friends. Another factor was my continuously supportive boyfriend who has always been by my side to help me achieve happiness and confidence.
  • Starting college - Obviously starting college was a massive change in my life, as I was entering a whole new learning environment with people I had never met before, and studying at a much higher level. I am proud of myself for adapting to this change well and hope to continue to thrive in my A-level subjects and social life.
  • Starting this blog - I know it was just before the end of the year, but I did start my blog in 2014 which was a huge step for me. I have dabbled in blogging over the years but have always been far too self-conscious to really put myself out there for fear of being judged by people I know and also by people I don't know. However, I decided to go for it as I am hoping it will help me to document my life and thoughts, give me a pastime I enjoy and help me to meet new people! I have loved to write since I was little and writing fairy stories about myself, fashion and beauty is such a huge interest of mine, and I love spreading positivity to others through comments and other interactions!

Following on from that last point, I would love to get to know you better if you are reading this! If you have a blog, feel free to send me the link so I can take a look and follow you, and I'd love to connect with you through social media and chat through there!
