MUA Make-up Haul

I popped into my local Superdrug to have a quick look at the MUA counter as I've never used any of their products, and I left with all of this! The brand is extremely reasonably priced and has been recommended to me by friends and fellow bloggers, so I'm really excited to try out all of these products!

The first thing which caught my eye was this gorgeous highlighting powder. Recently, I have been experimenting with contouring as I've never really done it before. I have discovered that I absolutely love using highlighters, they really make me look radiant and bring the light to the right areas of my face! I swatched the tester of this product in the shop and it looked so breathtaking against my skin that I couldn't leave it on the shelf; it is the perfect shade and shimmery but not glittery. I can see highlighters becoming a little obsession for me in the future!

 Lipstick - Shade 16, Shade 14 & Shade 11 (£1 each)
I have a liiittle obsession with lipstick, to say the very least (I even love photographing them). I couldn't try out a new brand without picking up a few of their lipsticks! I swatched all of the colours as I couldn't pick between the huge range, but I settled for these three. The formula is really creamy & moisturising and the colours are bold, but the staying power is not fantastic. 16 is a coral pink/peach shade which I think will be perfect to transition into spring, 14 is a classic nude which I decided to pick up as I don't really experiment with nude lips, and 11 is my favourite as it's sort of a "your lips but better" shade and it really compliments my skintone, plus it seems to last the longest on my lips.

Lip Liner - Red Drama & Caramel Nougat (£1 each)
Lip liner has never been something I thought I needed, as my lips are naturally very large, plump and well defined. I read online recently however that lip liners increase the staying power of your lipstick so I decided to give them a go. I picked up a pink/nude colour and a red which I hope will cover all of the lipsticks I own. I think it's really clever that the lids have a built-in sharpener, as I can never find one suitable for eyeliners and it'll be perfect for on-the-go!

I have recently started paying more attention to my eyebrows, although they are already quite thick so I tend to just brush them into place. I plucked them quite far apart when I was a little younger and have decided to grow them back in, so I picked up an eyebrow pencil to fill in-between the growing hairs so my brows still look neat and groomed. I haven't been too keen on brow products in the past as I find they are too red-toned for my brows, but this pencil was the perfect tone for me as it's more of a light grey/brown colour.

I have always used the same concealer product both for under my eyes and on blemishes, but there was an offer to get this free if you spent over £6 on MUA products, and I wasn't going to leave a freebie behind. I'm looking forward to trying this out as I get nowhere near enough sleep most nights due to late nights on the internet and early mornings for college!

I'm absolutely loving all of the MUA products and will definitely be going back for another look next time I'm in Superdrug! It surprised me how cheap all of the items were, as so many people rave about them and they seem to be such high-quality. I guess it just goes to show that you don't have to spend a ridiculous amount on beauty products, you just have to find the right ones!

January in Photos

If you'd like to keep up with my day-to-day life through little snaps like these, please follow me on Instagram (@jodievoss), I'd really appreciate it! January has been an insane month in both good and bad ways. I have been so stressed about my AS mocks (I'm so glad they're over now!) and also very busy with my blog. I am so proud of how far this blog has come in such a short space of time; it makes me really happy that I have somewhere to just write about what I love and it's such a bonus that people actually read it! I love talking to you all on Twitter and in the comments, my favourite part of blogging is how supportive everyone is - it has boosted my confidence in ways you couldn't imagine! I have also got closer to some amazing people in my life (shoutout to Em and Ffi), and I honestly don't know how I've lived without them my entire life. I hope the rest of 2015 compares to how fantastic January has been - it has a lot to live up to!

January Favourites

I can't believe it's already February! January has absolutely flown past; I have been so busy with AS mocks and blogging! I have now had this blog for a month and am so glad I started it, I'm really enjoying taking photos, writing about what I love and interacting with bloggers and readers! I like to keep in contact with you all so follow me on Bloglovin' (click here) to keep up to date with my posts and I'll check out your blog too, which usually leads to me going crazy following back, commenting and connecting with people on social media as I love discovering new blogs and making friends! So without further ado, these are just a few of the products I have been loving in January, separated into the categories of my blog!

Beauty

Towards the beginning of the month I picked up this palette on a whim as I thought it resembled the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I have been using it almost every day since; I love the natural rose-hued theme to it. Some of the shades are shimmery which I was dubious about but they give off the most gorgeous shine on the eyelid, almost like a pearl-y finish. I would recommend trying this palette out if you can't justify spending so much on the high-end ones, as it's only £4!

I ♡ Makeup I ♡ Definition - Fair
I've never really bothered with contouring my face but I picked up this contour palette at the same time as the eyeshadow palette just to try it out. I have since fallen in love with contouring, especially using a highlight as I love the way it brings light to certain parts of my face! I will be doing an entire post on this palette in the near future so look out for that!

I ran out and bought this lipgloss/stain as soon as it hit the shelves in the UK after hearing loads of hype about it. However, when I first got it I absolutely hated it; I could never get it to sit right on my lips and it went on in streaks. So why is it in my favourites? I heard from some other beauty bloggers that you have to really massage it in and apply another coat over the first, and when I did that I absolutely adored it! It has amazing staying power and makes my lips look amazing.

Skincare

My mum bought this mask for me towards the end of last year after we had a spa day together. This was used on me during my facial and the lady couldn't recommend it enough for my skin type so we decided to get it. It's probably the best face mask I have EVER used; it goes on so smoothly and a little goes a long way so it will last ages, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and renewed, as well as drawing out blackheads, controlling oil and calming redness. I also love the cute quote on the inside of the box, and there was no way this product wasn't getting featured in my favourites!

Fashion

Uniqlo Heat Tech Polo Neck Sweaters
I am absolutely loving the polo-neck trend this season, mostly because it has become a fashionable way to keep my neck warm. I have really bad circulation which results in me ALWAYS being cold - my friends say I'm cold-blooded! Plus, the polo-necks I got are heat tech so they're super warm. Yes, I did just say polo-neckS because I may or may not have picked up 3 different colours...

Lifestyle

Best Short Stories by Guy de Maupassant
I study French for A-level and am also hoping to do it at university, so a lot of my spare time is spent watching films/TV in French, listening to French radio and reading in French. I love how this book is dual-language so if I don't understand anything I can check the translation and learn it! My favourite story so far is called "Miss Harriet".

WH Smith Day to Page Red Patterned Diary 2015 (similar)
I have decided to keep a diary this year, so I can fill it with memories and also get my thoughts out onto paper. I always used to keep one when I was little and they are so nice to read back on a few years later. This diary is absolutely beautiful and so elegant which really encourages me to write it as I don't want to mess it up by missing a day!

Please leave a comment below telling me about your own January favourites, I'd love to know!
